Amazon Music is stepping up its game in the streaming service competition by launching ‘Maestro,’ an AI-powered feature that crafts playlists from text prompts. Currently in beta, this innovative tool is accessible to a select group of users across all service tiers in the United States on both iOS and Android platforms.
The feature is straightforward to use, appearing prominently on the app’s home screen or through an easily accessible plus button used to create new playlists. Maestro’s introduction comes on the heels of Spotify unveiling a similar AI playlist feature, highlighting a growing trend of integrating artificial intelligence to enhance music discovery.
Users can tailor their playlists with Maestro by entering prompts that describe the desired music style, mood, or setting, with the capability to include details like activities, emojis, or even specific locations. The service then generates a playlist that reflects the user’s input, complete with a creatively generated title, setting it apart in personalization.
However, there are boundaries to ensure appropriateness; for instance, prompts containing offensive language or deemed inappropriate are restricted. This feature aligns with Amazon Music’s efforts to offer a safe and enjoyable experience for all users.
While only a limited number of Amazon Music subscribers currently have access to Maestro, plans are in place to expand its availability. Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers can enjoy full playlists immediately, whereas Prime members and those on the free tier get a preview of 30-second clips before they decide to save the playlist.
This move not only enhances user experience by making music discovery more interactive and personalized but also signals Amazon Music’s commitment to leveraging AI to stay competitive in the dynamic music streaming market.
