Marvel Studios has unveiled the first trailer for “Captain America: Brave New World,” marking Anthony Mackie’s debut as the new Captain America. Mackie’s character, Sam Wilson, formerly known as the Falcon, takes over from Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, who passed on the shield at the end of “Avengers: Endgame.”
Plot Highlights: The trailer opens with Sam Wilson meeting the U.S. president, Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, played by Harrison Ford, who wants Captain America to serve as a U.S. agent. The action quickly ramps up as Sam thwarts an assassination attempt at the White House. The trailer also introduces Red Hulk, the alter-ego of “Thunderbolt” Ross, suggesting a fierce showdown.
Background: Sam Wilson first appeared as Captain America in the Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” where he teamed up with Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier, played by Sebastian Stan. The series was well-received and earned five Emmy nominations.
