A major wipe in Escape From Tarkov seems imminent, as the second pre-wipe event just rolled out, removing access to the flea market and boosting rare loot spawns. This suggests that players should brace themselves for a wipe possibly arriving in just a few days.
The latest event, teased earlier on Escape From Tarkov’s social media and now live, has taken the flea market offline, cutting off the player-to-player sales hub. In addition, loot spawns have been significantly enhanced, especially for high-tier items, making the game’s most valuable loot more accessible—at least for now.
The teaser image for the event featured a box filled with Ledx, hinting at a focus on rare loot. Players have reported that loot spawns in Labs and specific marked rooms have been improved, offering a wealth of top-tier gear.
From initial observations, it appears that loose loot spawns have been notably buffed, with many items scattered around for players to find. However, with the flea market disabled, the ability to sell these items is limited, which might make some of them less useful.
This new event follows closely on the heels of another event launched just 24 hours earlier, where all hideout upgrades could be crafted using just beer, alongside an increase in skill leveling. Like the previous event, this one is only active in the PvP version of the game, leaving PvE players unaffected.
Given the timing of these back-to-back events, the current speculation is that the next Escape From Tarkov wipe could happen as soon as August 15. This would allow time for one final event, potentially a fire sale where all trader items are available for just one Rouble before the servers go offline to implement the wipe and the new patch. While there’s no official confirmation from Battlestate Games yet, all signs seem to point to a wipe on August 15.
When the wipe does occur, players can expect a fresh start with a host of new content. This includes new weapons like the recently revealed Deagle, a reworked Factory map, and possibly a new boss equipped with tripwires who will relentlessly hunt players.
As with all wipes, player progress will be reset, and inventories will be cleared, ensuring everyone starts on an even footing. However, for those playing in PvE mode, your account will remain intact, though the new content will still be available.
